2004 17. 3rd Annual
Korean Festival. The 3rd Annual Korean Festival will treat locals and visitors
alike to some of Korea's and Hawaii's best kim chee, tae kwon do, music, dance
food, products, and art. There will be games for children and food booths from
Hawaii's most popular Korean restaurants. Event dates: January 17-18, 2004, Kapiolani
Bandstand, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. It also will
be held at the Maui War Memorial Complex on January 24, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sponsored

Chinese New Year in Lahaina. LahainaTown welcomes the Lunar New Year with
colorful lion dances beginning at Wo Hing Temple on Front Street. In the evening,
the 800 block of Front St. is closed to vehicle traffic; watch Chinese martial
arts demo's, hear traditional drums, gongs, cymbals and firecrackers set-off every
hour. Booths for ethnic food, crafts, calligraphy, massage and more. Free admission;

1st Annual Korean Festival. Some of Korea¡¯s and Hawaii¡¯s

2004 14. Maui's Whale
Day Celebration. Free, all-day family celebration of Maui's humpback whales,
from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m at Kalama Park (by the big whale statue) on South Kihei
Road, Kihei. Hawaiian entertainment & craft fair. Enjoy great food by Maui
restaurants and a Silent Auction. There are informational displays about whales,
the ocean and Maui's natural environment. Includes fun for kids and a Wild and
Wonderful Whale Regatta (Maui's own version of the rubber ducky race). Call (808)

2004 13. Ocean
Arts Fest Lahaina. Lahaina celebrates Humpback Whales with a Marine Arts
Festival at Banyan Tree Park from 9am to 5pm, Sat/Sun. Local artists display their
best ocean and marine-life themed art for sale; Hawaiian musicians and hula troupes
entertain. Kids learn & have fun with art activities, games and Creature Feature

2004 25. Earth
Day Celebration and Free Ocean Discovery Cruises. To celebrate Earth Day,
Pacific Whale Foundation will be offering free one-hour Ocean Discovery Cruises.
Sightings of whales, dolphins, sea turtles and false killer whales are all possible.
In addition to the free cruises, there will also be an Earth Day Celebration at
the Pacific Whale Foundation Marine Resource Center at The Harbor Shops at Maalaea,
complete with special discounts. Advance reservations are required for the free

2004 15. International
Festival Of Canoes Cultural Events. Master Carvers from nations across the
Pacific come together with Hawai'i carvers to create real canoes from wood logs,
daily 9am-5pm (at 2 parks on Front Street). Demos of old-style surfboard, drum
making, house thatching, cultural arts lessons and crafts fair held in Banyan
Tree Park. Parade down Front St., followed by seaside ceremony and Haw'n music
concert at Lahaina Library Pt. on May 28. Watch ceremony & launch of completed
canoes-surfboards on May 29 with island food and music festival at Kamehameha

2004 19. Lahaina's
King Kamehameha Day Festivities. Honoring King Kamehameha the Great, the annual
Floral & Pa'u rider parade begins at 10am from the 900 block of Front St.
to the Banyan Tree. An awards ceremony and cultural craft fair with Hawaiian music

Fashioned 4th of July.
Come to LahainaTown for a
fabulous fireworks display over the ocean at 8pm. Front Street restaurants &
lounges will feature specials (no parking available along the 800 block of Front
St. from sunset to 9pm). On Maui, call Lahaina Visitor Center at 667-9193. In
the Kaanapali resort, families will enjoy an afternoon of fun activities with
Magic Shows and Hula performances on stage, face painting and contest games for

Village Maui Onion Festival . It's the 15th annual celebration of the "sweetie"
Maui Onion with a weekend of fun, food, and cooking. Watch chef demo's as well
as an onion-eating contest (adult & kids), amateur and professional cooking
competitions; explore the farmers market; enjoy kids' games and live music. Held
outdoors at Whalers Village in the Kaanapali Resort. Free admission; paid parking.

of Lahaina & Best of Island Music. Maui's largest culinary festival celebrates
13 years of tasting dishes from the best Maui County restaurants. Listen to continuous
music with Hawaii's current & legendary musicians on stage. Kids will love
the Fun Zone with Xtreme inflatable rides & games; parents can enjoy the beer
& wine garden. Held at new mountainside ballpark (old Wainee Camp) off Honoapiilani

2004 31. Halloween
in Lahaina. Mardi Gras of the Pacific is more than just a night on the town
in costume. Lahaina's Halloween includes Haunted Houses for kids, Costume Contests
with great prizes for all ages, Children's Costume Parade, food, crafts, activities,
live music and fun on Front Street, which is closed to vehicle traffic from 4pm
