Bay The Kealakekua
Bay, with its dramatic backdrop, is one of the best places to snorkel
and snuba. This calm and protected bay is filled with all sorts of marine life
such as octopus, eels, and fishes and much more especially near the Captain Cook
Monument. Sometimes spinner dolphins can be seen in the bay swimming and jumping
into the air. It is truly an amazing view. An
abundance of marine life and spectacular scenery is what draws visitors and locals
to Kealakekua Bay. A school of spinner dolphins resides in the conservation area
and are most likely to be active in the mornings, which is before most of the boats
arrive. The best way to
enjoy the marine sanctuary is by a guided tour with Fair Wind Cruises. This first
class tour company out of Keauhou Bay offers the best snorkel and snuba excursions
several times a day. They offer both a morning and afternoon cruise that includes
breakfast, lunch, snorkel gear, and lessons. I highly recommend the Fair Winds
cruise. Their swim, snorkel and snuba cruise to Kealakekua Bay was one of the
highlights of my trip to the Big Island. . previous page
