Best Horseback Riding - Mendes Ranch

One of the most popular activities on Maui is horseback riding. The varied terrain and eye-popping vistas in Maui combine to make exploration on horseback a must. The Mendes Ranch is the only ranch that offers breathtaking trail ride across an actual working cattle ranch. Here you are greeted by real Paniolo's (cowboys) before you are wicked away to enjoy Maui's lush rainforest, beautiful waterfalls, majestic valleys and the crystal blue waters of the pacific ocean on horseback. Picture taking opportunities with the majestic ocean, as a background is countless. The horseback riding tours here are complete with historical and cultural narrative and some tours include a BBQ lunch in the ranch. They also do an excellent job catering to riders of every level, from beginners to advanced riders. Best Excursion - Trilogy

Trilogy has been considered the number one sailing company in Maui for good reason. With over 30 years of experience, they have the newest fleet of custom high-tech ocean sailing catamarans in Hawaii. Starting at Lahaina harbor, you are whisked away to Lanai' (the Island Bill Gates got wed). During the journey to Lana'i, continental breakfast is served while whale watching. Once you get to the island, you can go snorkeling on Hulopo'e Beach, go on a narrated van tour of Lana'i's plantation town, enjoy Trilogy's famous BBQ chicken with lo mein lunch at the new Hale O Manele Pavilion and do so much more. The bay used for snorkeling is an underwater marine sanctuary so snorkeling is very enjoyable with lots of marine life and sometimes dolphins come out to play. Trilogy, P.O. Box 1119, Lahaina, (888) MAUI-800, www.sailtrilogy.com

Best Show - Ulalena

By far the best show in Maui. Maui Myth & Magic Theatre's Ulalena (which is the ancient Hawaiian name for wind) is an excellent theatrical experience. Ulalena explores relationships between people, nature and mythology. The show is interwoven with original music, song, authentic Polynesian dance, acrobatics, theatrical storytelling and a live band playing traditional and cultural instruments. It artfully weaves together the powerful images of Hawaiian mythology and history into a celebration of nature and the spirit of the human imagination.
