Cruising for the Monterey Peninsula

From the dramatic and breathtaking coastline view along the 17 Mile Drive to its world-renowned aquarium, the Monterey Peninsula has it all. For generations, travelers and artists have been drawn to its magnificent beauty.

Monterey is a paradise for nature lovers. With beautiful rugged beaches just begging to be walked on to the wine waiting to be savored, there is no question you've just discovered a little bit of heaven on earth. A drive through the rugged and curvy 17 Mile Drive is simply stunning. Rent a car and explore the twists, turns and stunning vistas of Monterey's 17 Mile Drive. This drive is blessed with mountain peaks that rival that of Switzerland and the breathtaking view of the ocean; driving this stretch of road becomes pleasurably difficult. Like most other drivers, you will be so hypnotized with the view that you might be compelled to pull of the road and take in the view with your camera.

One of the first things everyone should do when they get to the beach is to take of their shoes and just enjoy the sand as it flirts with their toes. The beaches here are so inviting and spectacular, you might just getlost in its beauty. This is the best place to read your favorite novel or have a romantic picnic at sunset. Or you may want to sit on thebeach and take in the beauty. Since the water of the pacific remains a bit chill even in the summer, you might want to go for a refreshing swim. Or pull off to the side of the road and go surfing. If hiking is your thing, then you might want to hike the trails at the Point Lobos State Reserve.

No visit to Monterey will be complete without a stop at the Cannery Row Company and the world-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium. Cannery Row, once the location of the largest sardine industry is now home to tourist attractions that include shops and restaurants. The Monterey Bay Aquarium located at the end of Cannery Row is home to the largest underwater life in the world. This aquariums highlight includes a variety of sea otters, jellyfish, sharks and much more.
