The 25-story high-rise is set deep in downtown Atlanta. It was the neighborhood's first luxury hotel, and it's still the best. rather basic exterior of the Ritz lacks dramatic impact. Once inside, though,
you'll find lavish drop rugs, cherry wood furniture and chandeliers. The hotel
is within walking distance to most of Buckhead's office buildings and Lenox and
Phipps malls, and it's in close proximity to the highway. Unlike other Ritz-Carltons,
its reputation for quality service is uneven.

The Terrace is one of Atlanta's original gems. The architecture borrows from the famous Flatiron style, linking graceful, tapered segments to simple round towers which form the corners. Inside, a cavernous atrium showers light onto marble surfaces. On the boundary of Midtown and downtown, directly across from the Fox Theatre, the Terrace is just a short drive from most of Atlanta's attractions and historic neighborhoods, but there's not much within walking distance. Restored in 1997, the hotel looks like it did at the turn of the 20th century, but with welcome updates.
