| | Governor
Hotel 611 SW 10th at Alder Portland, Oregon 97205
| Listed
on the National Register of Historic Places, the Governor Hotel has a long, opulent
history. The original architect had a reputation for incorporating bells into
his work, so look for them in many unusual places around the building. While you're
at it, enjoy all the painstakingly restored or reproduced hotel trademarks, from
the carpeting to the crackling fireplace and the stained glass dome in the hotel
restaurant. They didn't skimp on the room interiors, either. Ask for a room with
a balcony and fireplace if you want the full effect, and don't forget to use the
Princeton Athletic Club in the basement. Located
in the center of downtown Portland, The Governor Hotel perfectly mixes historical
ambiance with modern luxury amenities. Save between $20 and $100 on ALL Hotel Bookings Now! | | | | | | | Embassy
Suites 319 Southwest Pine St Portland, OR 97204
|
Located
in the restored Multnomah Hotel, which originally opened in 1912, the Embassy
Suites has a beautiful large lobby that is a masterpiece of gilded plasterwork,
successfully conjuring up the hotel's heyday. The accommodations here are primarily
two-room suites, with the exception of a handful of studio suites. In keeping
with the historic nature of the hotel, the suites have classically styled furnishings.
However, what's much more important is that they give you lots of room
to spread out, a rarity in downtown hotels, which tend to have fairly small units.
The hotel's Portland Steak and Chophouse is just what its name implies, with a
classic dark and woody steakhouse decor and a large bar. You
can really live it up in the $125-$229 suite, which has all of the luxuries in
fine form, as well as some fabulous views. A full breakfast, cooked to order is
included in the room rate. The riverfront and MAX light rail are within walking
distance. Save between $20 and $100 on ALL Hotel Bookings Now! |

Hotel 1009 S.W. Broadway Portland,
OR 97205, USA
|
Superior
service, an award-winning restaurant, a central downtown location (adjoining the
Performing Arts Center), and swank public areas have earned the Heathman its reputation
for quality. From the teak-panel lobby hung with Warhol prints to the rosewood
elevators and marble fireplaces, this hotel exudes refinement. The earth-tone
guest rooms are luxuriously comfortable, if not overly spacious, and the bathrooms
have plenty of marble and mirrors. Afternoon tea is served in the high-ceiling
Tea Court, which becomes a popular gathering spot in the evenings. Even
though this luxury hotel is in the heart of downtown Portland, a night here is
as much an exotic getaway as a road trip out of state -- unless you get 24-hour
room service and access to a fully-equipped exercise suite, private bar and European-
style concierge service at home. Not to mention the Heathmans great location
in the cultural district, directly adjacent to the Schintzer Concert Hall and
a stones throw from some of the citys best restaurants. Of course,
since the Heathmans own Beard Award- winning restaurant (arguably the best
in town) is just downstairs, its great location becomes moot. And if you decide
to curl up in the hotels cozy Mezzanine library -- a professional curator
stocks signed editions of works by authors whove stayed here -- and take
in one of the hotels movies (from its large film library), you could have
a spectacular getaway lined up without even having to leave the hotel. Save between $20 and $100 on ALL Hotel Bookings Now! |
